Yeah the car is my daily driver. In the poll i put other incase someone had any other ideas. The thing is how bad is the Trex with 3.42's? Is it just like the F15 and MS3 or worse?

Joel, what happened to the 233/239 you were gonig to install?

Also, look into MTI's Y1.

Good luck!

I wouldn't be able to tell ya which cam between the MS3 and F15 to go with.
You already know that the 3.42s aren't helping your cause. If you want to keep them, maybe come down a bit in duration to a Torquer Rev 2.

But then again, several people on this site are still on stock gear with these huge cams. Lol at the guy still with the 2.73's in his A4 with an MS3 (and loves it)- that's great!

Well i never reached the money to install the 233/239 and then i was in need of money and had to sell it. If i still had it now i would install it in a heart beat, but witha lack of funds i had to get rid of it. Yeah i have looked at the Torquer but i want something with more power up top. I mean if driving with any of these cams is horrible and 3.42's i wont get them but i notice alot of people still have 3.42s and can deal with it. But soon as i have the money for a rear end im slapping in a 9" with some 4.30's.

Before I got my new rear, I was driving my MS3 on the stock tune with stock gears. It was easily streetable except at the lowest of rpms and it also required letting out the clutch a bit more slowly and giving a bit more throttle to get the car rolling smoothly. The 4.30s I have now make an enormous difference, but 3.42s will work with no issue.

How does your car feel with the MS3 and 4.30's compared to the 3.42s such as acceleration and rolling punch?

MS3 here as well.

The MS3, LS6 intake and SLP UD pulley dropped 0.7 from my 1/4 ET. There was more in it but my last runs were in mid summer heat.

I was able to drive mine on the stock tune. Took several minutes to get it running at first and I had to put it in neutral when coming to a stop to keep it from dying. Drove it for over an hour to get it tuned and it made it alright, as long as you keep moving or throw it in neutral and feather the throttle you're okay.

Sounds like the MS3 is not to bad with a stock tune. Might get a mail order tune though alittle after the install.

I have the TSP 233/239 with the stock intake manifold still on it (no funds) and still make 373hp with 3.42s. Very streetable, and was tuned by TSP. That was also without 02 sensors plugged in, they were not working right.

The cam that i had to sell was the 233.239 Version 1. Bought it when it first came out expecting to have funds to be able to install it and dyno tune it but things can change pretty quick. I guess i am leaning toawrds the MS3 so far. The fact that TSP makes it and have never heard anything bad about their products or customer service. And cause the MS3 looks like something that i might be looking for power wise and 1/4 mile wise.

Huge difference! I can break the tires loose by punching it in 1st now whereas I couldn't before. Damn elevation robs so much power. I like the fact that the 4.30s get the car into the meat of the powerband very quickly and keep it there through every gear. I highly recommend the 4.30s. The MS3 is easily streetable as well on the stock tune. Once I feather the throttle a bit on cold starts and get the car moving it has never stalled out at all. The rpms will bounce down to 300-400 range when I stop and then it will go back up to normal idling.

Sounds like the MS3 with some 4.30's is a very sweet combo. It will probably take me a while to get a rear end though. What rear end are you running with the 4.30s?

I should probably get my sig updated with all that stuff. It's a 9" w/ Moser housing, Moser 35 spline axles, full spool, Strange center, 1350 billet yoke, and a PST 3.5" aluminum ds. There's some mild gear whine under light accel and decel in 5th and 6th at certain speeds (not sure since my speedo isn't calibrated yet) probably 50-60mph. I'm pretty sure that's just the nature of the beast w/ 4.30s. I put 200 babied miles on them for break-in.

There is a guy in the southern section that is running the MS3 cam. I think he ran an 11.86 e.t. with it and 4.10s (M6). A friend of mine had the F15 with a spec 3 clutch and 3.42s, and its a pain to drive with the stock gears. He took it out and put the stock cam back in it. I think the car put down 385 or so but the clutch was slipping. He had it dynoed before the spec 3 was put in.

Damn that must suck to have to take the cam back out because it rides like ****. From what i have heard that if you get a really good tune with the MS3 driving with the stock 3.42s ain't so bad.

Another question i have is how much louder will my car be when i install a cam? I currently have SLP LTs, 3inch X-Pipe, Sweet Thunder Mufflers dumped and its pretty loud and i love it. I don't mind it getting louder, just wondering will the tone of my car or sound will get louder or chance.

Deeper, louder, harder hitting. Throw some heads on, reducing the compression, and it hits you even harder.

Hard loping high compression LS1's.

Joel,
This is what your SLP LT's and X-pipe used to sound like when I had those tin-can Flowtech Afterburners and the TSP 231/237 thumping along with stock heads;

With the Sweet Thunders you put on, your car will probably sound more like this (G5X-2 Cammed, TD's, Sweet Thunders);
