Cobra arent that fast stock. Run mostly 12.8-mid 13's stock in my local track. However, they can be very quick with couple mods with less than a grand. Example: pulley, CAI and chip. It will take at least a cam'ed LS1 to beat a bolton cobra.

Ford has to SC their motors to get an edge on GM

but point being... if they have $1k of mods done well, we need $2-3k done well to run even.

I just played with a pullied 03 the other day. It had the 2.9" pulley, exhaust, fipk, and a tune and supposedly put down 467rwhp. From 40-100, he only put just over a carlength on me, and I had a passenger and he didn't. We would have gone more, but because of my very worn and sloppy T56 with the stock Hurst, I missed 4th. The Cobra was beginning to pull a little harder as speeds increased though.

My car must be a strong runner, because I thought for sure that pullied Cobra would have put more lengths on me then it did.

Well said....thats why I read ALL car mags. No need to be embarassed cause you wouldn't read a import/ford/whatever magazine or msg board. That being said I would race anyways even if I knew I'd lose cause I LOVE the sounds that blowers make.

I've raced 2 before. The first had a CAI and was at 387rwhp, I was still on stock heads and cam with full bolt ons 350ish rwhp. From 3rd gear pulls we were dead even. It came down to who had the better hit on the go. The second was a 2.8 pullied w bolt ons with my current mods. We went from 0-top of 3rd gear. I smoked him pretty bad off the line and pulled pretty hard. He was on F1's and looked to be smoking the crap out of them from my rearview. From a roll he would probably pull me.

That is not really correct. The Mach has an aluminum block and higher compression at the least. I'm sure the cams are different. The Cobra 4.6 is built and designed for boost.

Yep, the 03-04 cobra has a forged bottom end, the Mach 1 has the previous Cobra engine in it.

The "old" Cobra engine is not aluminum. That's a big weight difference hanging on the front end. Especially considering how physcially big that small cube motor is. I imagine there are more differences, but I'm no Ford expert so I'll shut up now.

wrong again...starting in 96, when ford went to the DOHC 4.6 they were an aluminum block...The block was from an Italian company call Teksid that also provided blocks to ferrari and such...Very strong design, and is the best aluminum out there for the modular ford...In 99 and 01 the block was of a similar design to the Teksid, but produced in the Windsor plant...The 96-98 Cobra and the Lincoln mark VIII used the B series swirl port heads that had a primary and secondary intake port, made for better low end torque and great top end power...In 99 they went to the tumble port heads (C series) and used this for the 99 and 01 Cobra...And the 03 and up DOHC engines use a head based on the FR500, it is used on the Cobra, Mach 1, Marauder, and lincoln aviator...

anyway...i hate ford

That should be enough...Everyone please stop using the lame excuse of they have to have a supercharger to keep up. You do realize our engines are 1.1L bigger than theirs right? Anyhow, I'm just tired of the "ricer" excuse of well you have a supercharger...if you didn't have it I'd smoke you. Well they do have it so quit whining.
