what does it take to beat a cobra?

Bolts ons and a cam should take a 03-04 cobra as long as you can drive good.
However a 03-04 cobra with the standard upgrades everyones doing would require a lot more like 125+HP shot of nitrous
typical mods for the cobra would be
-pulley
-chip
-exhaust
Occasionally they'll get aggresive and port their supercharger
Occasionally yet they'll squeeze nitrous on top of it. Then your in serious trouble.

cobras have traction problems, especially if they have mods to the engine. Race them from a stop and they will probably go up in smoke. Mine had 505 rwhp and would spin wildly until 4th at the strip. Too much low end.

If you can drive then bolt ons should take care of them as well.
Once they get a pulley and intake/exhaust your basically screwed unless you got a big *** cam or something. Those Cobras make lots of power pretty easily.

LT's, Catback, LS6 Intake, Converter, Gears, Big Cam, Nittos. Should be enough, 100 shot if you want to be on the safe side. Hope you hook. The Cobra's I have raced where modded, don't know how much but they can sure move.

go cam and bolt ons. Dont' sit there and try to make it your race by going from a stop. You want to beat him from a roll and a stop right? Personally I like to own my victims from a roll & a stop. So get the cam. You don't need too aggresive of a cam to beat one.

my friend had an 04 with a Whipple and a bunch of other BS...made 622 rwhp...was running in the mid 11's on ET streets, and not pulling away from my bolton BS Ta...
i think they might be a little too heavy, but not to say they aren't a fast car...I've just always been disappointed with their track performance, i guess that goes for everything since i've seen mid 14 second LS1s...and even ran in the 16's @110+ my first time with stock 245/45/16...
anyway...what were we talking about? I guess you really don't have to worry because it's made by Ford and will break at some point in the race or something...

I tied an 03 with Borla catback and no cats from a 40 roll to 130/end of my 4th gear. This was on a hot humid night though, and the Cobra did have a passenger, both working to my advantage. This was just with the headers and TD's (ok, the lid too). The Cobra had put down 412rwhp a week prior.
