Default Max stroke on LS1?

If I am going to rebuild my motor someday and replace the rotating assembly anyways I figure, why not stroke it? What's the max cube I can get to just stroking? Thanks!

Probably 383, but there's no point in stroking it without a bigger bore.

A 4" Stroke makes 382ci. Not sure how much further you can go.

Max stroke without major clearance issues is 4.00".

Not true, there's plenty of TQ to be gained with the added stroke. Not everyone has the money to resleeve there motor, or buy a LS2 block. JRP stated it correctly. The most you can do on the stock sleeves is 4.125. Anything longer and the crank will pull the piston down to far in the bore, which will cause you to have to have a short ring stack that may not be suitable for much more than a mild N/A application.

I was under the impression that running a longer stroke crank on a stock bore would indeed add more torque down low but wouldn't give you much more horsepower.

Not to mention dramatically increasing piston speed.

Yep, that's pretty much how my answer read. You'll gain a bit in the HP department, but not near as much as if you had increased the bore. Still, on the street, TQ is were it's at.
