Default Nitrous pop!!

Was giving a friend a ride other ngiht and had a pop at 6400 rev limiter. Engine now has a slight tick and is down on power quite a bit(full bolt on car that cant pull a stock one). I pull the rockers and pushrods and didnt really notice much. Just how bent does a pushrod gotta be to tick and have a noticeable power loss? Did a compression check and every cylinder was 170-175.

Is the NO on a window switch? Or were spraying when you hit the limiter? If you were you spraying, then it was probably a backfire.

The compression being good should make the problem alot cheaper. may have bent a valve.

bent or burnt valve would show on a compression check.

I will assume you looked at the plugs and did not have any burnt ones.

did you check very closely for a busted spring?

Is the car idling high...maybe a vacum leak due to the backfire?

check the MAF wires to ensure the backfire didnt damage them?

Any codes? SES light??

All plugs were good.

No busted spring.

Car had a funky idle now almost like it has a VERY small cam.

MAF wires are fine.

Lots of codes right now as i put the stock file back in til i get it figured out.

I rolled the pushrods around on the kitchen table and didnt really notice much of a bend in ne of them except for a couple that have a wobble sound when you do roll them. Would a busted ring or ringland show on a compression check of the second ring is still good?

with it idling funny now i'd bet on a vacuum leak.new pushrods will be a good idea if a few are already bent alittle.

I second the vacuum leak theory. Get some carb cleaner and start spraying around the intake. see if you notice anything at idle while spaying in different areas.

Ok, I'll post what I rememer from tonight.

MAF is fine
Pushrods are fine
Springs look good
No leaks that I could tell
Sounds like my car when the lifters went south honestly.
Oil pressure is low at idle and going down the road.

The only thing that trips me up is the fact that it will jack around on the idle, a little high sometimes, but only for a short second or two.

It sounds like it has a tiny cam in it too, though its stock.

Well tore it all the way down to the shortblock. Found NOTHING! Couple small nicks in the cylinder wall but nothing too serious. Im thinking cam bearing. Only thing left to do now is pull the motor and check out the bearings.

I LOVE MY CAR!!!!
