Nitrous pop!!
The compression being good should make the problem alot cheaper. may have bent a valve.
I will assume you looked at the plugs and did not have any burnt ones.
did you check very closely for a busted spring?
Is the car idling high...maybe a vacum leak due to the backfire?
check the MAF wires to ensure the backfire didnt damage them?
Any codes? SES light??
No busted spring.
Car had a funky idle now almost like it has a VERY small cam.
MAF wires are fine.
Lots of codes right now as i put the stock file back in til i get it figured out.
I rolled the pushrods around on the kitchen table and didnt really notice much of a bend in ne of them except for a couple that have a wobble sound when you do roll them. Would a busted ring or ringland show on a compression check of the second ring is still good?

MAF is fine

Springs look good
No leaks that I could tell
Sounds like my car when the lifters went south honestly.
Oil pressure is low at idle and going down the road.
The only thing that trips me up is the fact that it will jack around on the idle, a little high sometimes, but only for a short second or two.
It sounds like it has a tiny cam in it too, though its stock.
I LOVE MY CAR!!!!
read that...
something to think about.
