Brown sludge on oil cap?

I removed the oil cap to add oil, and found brown sludge on it. Kinda looks like light cholocate milk, but thicker. I think its the head gasket, as the car is loosing a little bit of coolant as well. It has been burning oil for the past 40,000 miles as well, and now also ticks loudly on cold start ups. What do you guys think about the brown sludge. Head gasket blown?
BTW, this is for my winter car, a 94 Grand Prix with 110 k.
thanks
I do know this is a LS1 forum..but just need a quick response so I know whats going on, and if the motor will stop working any day now..thanks

Any car that is driven for short distances will start a sludge buildup. It doesn't automaticly mean you have a blown head gasket but if you are losing coolant it would be a good indication. If you keep driving it just like it is it could go for a long time or fail tomorrow. The smoking could be something as simple as valve seals or you may need new rings. If you like this car, get it fixed. If it is just a beater put some snake oil in it and keep driving.
