This has been a very helpful thread to me....but I can't stop thinking that the CheaTR cam will work ideally on FBody manifolds, which I understand are not nearly as good as the Vette manifolds (at least the '01+ ones). I'm sure all of you know that the Corvette manifolds are much more similar to a 'shorty' tubular header than a Fbody log-style manifold.

I guess that's the reason I posted the specific '01+ Vette manifolds title for this thread. I hope I'm not coming off as a jerk or anything, but I guess it would be helpful to find someone who has gone cam-only/stock Corvette manifolds to see how well it worked for them, which cam they used, etc.

F-body (at least on an '02), had one log, one "shorty."

This is what I've been basing my Fbody manifold vs Vette manifolds vs tubular header stuff on...........(scanned from Jan '05 Car Craft)

Any thoughts on the info in this article?

The Cheater makes good power but realy shines up top. On a car with 4.10 gears (or Z06 tranny), that cam will be a lot of fun spinning to 6600. I'm not sure it is ideal for 3.42 gears.

I'd bet that a 214/224 114 114 would give a little beefier midrange but you would probably have to shift by 6300. The Cheater also benefits from its huge intake lobe. You could probably get a beefier midrange with a TRs 216 lobe by going to a 216/226 115 114. That would have the same IVC (at .05) as the LS6 cam and earlier EVO and more overlap. Give them a call and see what they suggest.

That Katech cam (assuming a 112 LSA) would appear to be like the 01-02 F-Body cam on steroids. It looks like the .05 IVC & EVO are identical to the stock cam. Not a great drag racing cam, but I'd bet it makes for a fun daily driver.

This thing pulls so hard in that V, and when the headers were added, it was like a totally different car. http://www.katechengines.com/street_...%20Headers.pdf
Again, I can't say for sure what everything is, but I think that should answer your question, don't you think Jason???

Pretty much summed it up.

Here's a couple of questions I didn't see anybody explore:

If I got the CheaTR cam, would I need a tune (I know I would benefit from one, but would I NEED one)? Car is an M6.

If I got the CheaTR cam (still on the stock headers, cats, and Y) it would be okay for daily driving from what I've read, but what would happen to it if I later put on long tubes?

My reasoning, first and foremost is money. A cam is ~$400, but headers (and I want either the QTP's or Kooks' FLP with catted Y) would be ~$1500.

Sorry if I seem to be hijacking the thread, or if it's been too long to revive it, this just seemed like a good one to ask in.
