I don't know if people are using the 918's with the XER lobes with success, but would like to know, seeing as I am installing the 224/224 .581/.581 114 XER and the heads currently have the 918's installed.

I was on the phone with tech-support (CompCams) yesterday and they recommended the 918s for .600 lift XE-R type cams....

Sorry to hijack your thread but I have the 918's, and they are not the blue striped ones like on comps web site. These have the white stripe. Do you guys think that they are just as good as blue striped ones?? I have the f13 in the vette and I don't want to take a chance on dropping a valve!!!

I've personaly run .610 lift on 918's with no issues, quite the contrary, more power, when I swapped the stock valves/duals for LS6 valves/ 918's on the same head,
11 rwhp extra on the same day.
I stand corrected. I swear I read on one of the Comp online catalog pages a while back, that the dual springs were recommended for the XE-R lobes. I searched for that page and can't find it. I did find the page that said 918's were OK to use with the XE-R lobes. Maybe it was one of the vendor sites where I read it, but I didn't make it up.
In any case, that's a good thing for me. I won't have to swap out the new 918's and Ti retainers that I have on the heads I'm installing. Thanks for calling me on that one. You just saved me at least $300.

Interesting... I have a Comp XE-R 244/248 and the rep said I needed Comp 977's and Comp R lifters. Well I developed an intermittent tick and think it is the lifters. I would love to go back to a stock style lifter and 918's if they would work. I am just worried about having enough spring pressure.
