Default Finally decided on heads...

I decided a couple of weeks ago to take the plunge and shoot for 450 HP. My plan of attack was to replace my stock ported TB and LS6 intake with a Fast 90/90 combo and some heads. The Fast 90/90 I bought from a member here on the For Sale forum, and should be at my doorstep on Tuesday. As far as the heads go, I've been researching and annoying sponsors with questions, and today I finally made a decision: I'm going with the PRC Stage 2 CNC ported Darts.

Initially I was leaning very strongly towards the Patriot LS6 style heads. I found both the low price and the high compression with stock deck height that the Patriot heads brought to the table very attractive. I asked Gunnar lots of questions, both through PM's and on the phone, and while I ultimately decided to go with a different set of heads I have to say that he was a great guy to deal with and answered all of my questions. I also had a bunch of questions for the guys at TSP, and they were great as always. I was pretty impressed by the fact that when I was asking about PTV clearance with different valve sizes with the Patriot setup, they made no attempt to disuade me from buying Patriot heads and going with a set of their own heads, like alot of places would have done in a similar situation.

I was all set to get the Patriots when I was cruising TSP's website and spied something that hadn't been there the day before, namely the PRC Stage 2 CNC ported Dart heads. I saw the price, and the flow numbers, and I had to get more info. So I called up Jason and ended up purchasing a set. If you haven't seen 'em yet, go check out TSP's website.

Jason said that the heads should be ready to go by the end of next week. He's going to check the valve drop when they're done and see if those Darts can be milled a bit for a little more compression while still maintaining good PTV with my cam. The one thing I definitely don't want to have to do is flycut.

When the Fast 90/90 combo gets here, I'll be installing that and doing a before heads baseline run, so look for those numbers by the end of next week. I'll post them in the Dyno forum and link it here. Shortly after that the heads should be in and installed, at which point I'll be hitting the dyno again for the results.

Again, I'd like to thank Gunnar at Patriot Performance and Jason and Jon at TSP for all their help and guidance.

Stay tuned!
