I took mine out because they are pretty much shot, and on one side were all different gaps... With a stout head/cam combo what would an ideal gap be for these?

 

.050 is what I run. They should be .050-.055 out of the box. I have had several sets and they have all been right at the same gap.

 

Cool, just wanted to make sure. I was gonna select one out of the motor and just gap the new ones according, but I got curious and found that they were all freakin different! I think that I am going to go with the .050 route. Thanks 7's!

 

How high is your compression. I run TR5's gapped at .046 with 11:1. I might try TR6's at .042.

For reference, TR5's are the same as TR55's but gapped at .035. The manufacturer recommends not moving the gap a full .010

 

I am running TR6's gapped at .043 and I just checked a plug today. It looks like they might be a tad too cold as they aren't self cleaning as good as they should be (not getting hot enough to sluff off deposits)

I am going to try TR55s tomorrow and see how they look.

Well, so you think that .039 is way to cold? I thought about just trying the .045 route and see where that lands me. You think my plugs being gapped differently would have anything to do with the SES light coming on due to misfire?

 

Not if you have a cam. The camming down low is causing the "misfire" reading.

 

So what would be my best option to slowly stop that problem?

 

Lol I just looked at the box again and found out that they are TR5's not the 55's. So they come with a tighter gap then?

 

10.7-1 here .045" gap and the plugs look great after 10K miles.

 

There is NO way you can be getting misfire codes with the tune that I put in your car.

 

It is acting really strange though. It will go off then come back on. I already got new O2's and everything. My gas mileage dropped from around 22 to 14.6 overnight. And the SES is still going crazy. I think that it is the plugs though. We will see. I just need find a comfortable gap for them.

Yes, and for about $2.00 you can grab a gap tool at Autozone although I prefer the old style ( with about 20 different sizes that you match up depending on what you need ).

I use .45 on my big motor and its perfect, I don't see why it wouldn't be fine for you.

I'd run them at .045 myself.

 

.035 is a good start
