Default Valvetrain problem

As in my other post, I mentioned I have my 1st camswap coming. Well, back on Thanksgiving Night, I had a noise creep up on me (literally, the last day I was going to drive it since it was so warm, figures huh?). Ive had various suggestions as to what it MAY be. Everything from a bent rod, to a rocker bearing, to lifters, to a dead cylinder. Well, I took out all of the rocker arms and rods - all seemed straight and normal. The Rocker arms, seemed just fine, didnt notice anything busted on them. Ive checked springs to see if they broke, but I didnt find anything. As for other symptoms, the noise goes with the revs of the motor of course and, is fairly loud when the motor is under load. When idling in neutral it isnt nearly as noticeable. Also, when I popped the hood, I could have sworn I smelled exhaust gas in the engine bay. My friend helped me record a short video of it (and yes, he recorded it sideways :-p). Keep in mind my little digicam cant record bass well at all so the noise is further exaggerated but, take a listen and tell me what you all think might be the issue. I need to figure this out ASAP before my projected install later this month! Thanks in advance, of course.

I can't get the link to work. Based on your description, have you looked for an exhaust leak?

I heard it. Sounds like an exhaust leak. Let engine cool, check around air tubes and headers.

Oh come on - that simple? And it'd make THAT loud of a ting? If thats it I will be absolutely ecstatic...

BTW, my AIR and EGR system is pulled...I have blockoff places on the holes.

I had an exhaust leak and it sounded kind of like yours, except mine wasn't nearly as loud and it didn't get louder with revs.

It doesnt get louder with rev's - it only gets faster with rev's. It gets louder when more load is put on the engine. So basically, check header gaskets and my AIR tube seals?

I must admit, the recording doesnt do the sound ANY justice at all - when I listened to it on here it sounds much more metallic. It doesnt sound quite like that normally. I will have to just reassemble it and give it another listen sometime.
