I have a camshaft, in a mailing tube, that is labelled 2003 Vette. Etched numbers on end of cam are 1721 S04 2154 and there is C and 3 stamped there as well. Anyone able to identify this? Is it a GM cam or aftermarket? Thanks,George.

 

Congratulations! You are the owner of a cam that has no daddy!

I tried to search on Google for it and it brought up a bunch of german or some other language. Your best bet is to send it to like Thunder Racing for like 25$ and then they will give you a new cam card to go with it.

 

Looks you are right, orangeapeel, no one has an id for this cam. Guess I will send it out to have it spec'd. Sure not going to install it without identifying the grind.Thanks, George.

No, it is lying around the garage. I think someone gave it to my son. He was trying to get me to install it in my new 2002 6.0 crate motor.

If I read your post correctly, you are stating that the 1721 is the last 4 numbers and the SO4 and 2154 are not significant to the part number? If this is so, then I believe that this is the same as the cam already installed in my 2002 6.0 crate engine. Good news, one less thing to do before the install in my 1955 Chevy.

 

All GM gen 3 cams I've seen have the last 4 digits of the part # on them. I don't know what the other #s are. Could be date codes or lot #s.
