Default Solid Roller tech questions...

1) How much does your valve lash grow once the motor is hot?

2) Whats the best method for setting lash and to prevent the adjustment from moving when you torque the nut? We get the lash dialed in, tighten the nut and when we torque the nut down the lash tightens up .001-.003.

1) Depends on the block/head combination. Aluminum/Aluminum will grow more than Iron/Aluminum. How much is your lash growing? What did you set it to cold?

2) You have to compensate for the lash tightening up when you tighten the nut down. Once you get the adjuster where you want it, move it back just a tad bit and tighten the nut. It's a feel thing.

Is there a tool where you can hold the adjuster and torque the nut?
You need to call your cam grinder and ask them what your hot lash should be.

All you need is an Allan Wrench and a 3/8" wrench. Hold the adjuster still while you tighten the nut down.

The hot lash is the one that's the most important. Get the engine up to operating temp and then set the lash from there.

There is a tool that makes this a little easier , Valve Lash Adjustment Wrench . Summit has them . The aluminum block and heads throw lash and preload settings of quite a bit . I would like to see someone use the Morel HLT lifters and set that up right . Does anyone know what kind of open spring pressures the HLT lifter can handle , I know Cstraub said you could use up to 200 lbs seat pressure .
