Default Questions before removing heads

I am in the middle of a H/C swap and about ready to pull the heads. Does anyone drain the block to reduce the clean up? If so how?

Also on a C5 can the headers be dropped enough to access the head bolts and not remove the headers completely?

I have arp head studs and I was able to get the heads off without pulling the headers. I did however have to take the header flanges loose under the car to do so, it was easy though just three bolts on my TPIS headers. I have heard the LG pro longtubes will drop down low enough as well, I dont know if you have to take anything loose on the LGs....

There is a freeze plug on the passenger side of the block you can pull that will drain the block.

Thanks guys, Viper can you tell me about where the drain plug is? That sure would make life easier.
I have QTP headers I will try to remove the bolts on the bell housing and see if they go low enough

some people have also said you can take a shop vac and vacuum or blow out the coolant via the front waterpump ports... I plan on trying this method.
