Default Lookin for as much top end as possible

Hey guys this is my first post so go easy on me here. I am looking to build a weekend racer and it seems like a 2nd gen RX7 with a LS1 and T56 would be my best bet when it comes to performance/dollar ratio. I am going to be building a car that handles well, as well as goes pretty damn fast in a straight line, but I know it will be hard to get both from the same suspension setup. As I stiffen the suspension to ge better handling I will be reducing weight transfer to the back when I accelerate making it harder to get the tires to hook up. Also the largest tire I am going to be able to run is about a 315 so I am not gonna have a lot to work with. An engine such as the LS1 is going to have so much torque chances are I'm going to have real issues hooking up, especially seeing how I want to do all the boltons and some No2 later. Torque (really low in the RPM band) is really whats going to get the tires spinning when I need them to stick. So what I want to do is raise the powerband to the upper rpm regions, so that it will really help me around a track as well as help my top end which is where I want the power. I am not worried about torque or the car getting off the line, because in a 2500lb car no matter what I do to the LS1 it will always have more than ample torque to get such a light car off the line in a hurry. So what do I do to get the LS1 to scream? To really produce more HP than torque? But I dont really want to reduce the displacement of the engine by shortening the stroke, plus that would be too expensive, but I am still open to the idea if someone could make a convincing argument

Thanks

it's all in the heads and cam, as to what your curves look like.

LS1's, cammed, almost always make more horsepower than torque. My recommendation to you, if you want a top end screamer without touching stock displacement/internals, would be to get a medium to large cam (mid-230's+ duration), on a wide (115-ish) LSA. The wider the LSA, the further up the powerband. So if you got something like, say a 234/242 on a 115, it would not only take some of the edge of the idle of that cam, it would also push the power band up pretty high...I'm talking a cam that could pull until at least 7K. That's what I'd look at if I were you. Also, a good intake like the FAST LSX90 with the Nick Williams 90mm throttle body will help your top end.

I heard the LS1 ECU cant handle fuel management above 7k or 7500 rpm. So I am guessing that raising the redine to take full advantage of the cam is out of the question. Correct?

Ohh yeah and I cant use the Nitrous on road courses so I wouldent be able to compensate with it during those times.
