Default Any dyno graphs for TR TRAK cam or additional info?

Anyone running the Thunder Racing Custom "TRAK" Camshaft - 231/234 .640/.590 112 LSA

If so what's it like? And do you have any dyno graphs, I'd quite like to see the power/torque curves for it.

I plan on running it on a A4 with a 3400 stall and 3.73 rear with the regular bolt ons (LTs, exhaust, lid, LS6 intake, ported TB) But stock heads.

Any thoughts??

Cheers.

Anyone else, are there no other people running this cam???

What alternative cams are there out there, and how would this one work with stock heads and a regular MAF?

I was seriously thinking about getting this cam but I couldn't find much info (before the search was broke) of anyone other then Patrick running it. I wasn't feeling brave enough to be a guinnea pig so I went with something more tried and proven.

I'd love to see the strip/dyno results of the TRak cam with stock heads.

Cool, what do you think of it? What's it like to drive and what other mods have you got?

Any ET's or dyno stats?

+1, it seems so far the two people with dyno info are also running AFR 205's.

I think it looks pretty sitting on the shelf in the back of the my shop

Mods on car -
LT's w/ custom TD's
ported TB
Lid
basic suspension stuff

Mods on shelf -
4400 stall w/ trans cooler
3.73 gears w/ rear end cover, stud kit, etc
G5X3 w/ Patriot gold springs, pushrods, etc
Plus some other little odds and ends

Should be a nice change of pace

I'm seriously thinking about going with the Trak cam myself (from the Trex). From what I understand the Trak idles close to the TR224 cam which is a plus for me (streetability), but it pulls alot stronger up top (I'm sure patrick can verify). Only down side is my Crane 832 springs won't work, you need really good springs like the 921's. Paul was going to check with Geoff (<sp) to see if my retainers and seats will work with 921's, could save me a ton of dough. i too would like to see some track results...

Yeah you see that's the thing, I don't mind having a pretty wild cam in there, but it's got to handle being stuck in heavy traffic and driving gently, because it's just gonna happen out there on the roads.

I reallyt like what 224/224 can offer, but I just one to go up one level as it where.

I sent an email to Thunder Racing yesterday asking for some info/dyno graphs of the Trak cam, so far no response. I'll give it until Monday and re-send it.

Pick up the phone and call them, they are more than willing to chat with you and are very friendly. You will get a faster answer that way.

Up a level from the TR224 cam is going to be the TR230 cam, it will have plenty of chop to it and doesn't lose anything on the bottom end from the 224, but pulls harder up top. I say the Trak cam falls in between the 230/236 and the Trex, but has better manners.

I can tell you this about the cam, my car idles at 900rpm and it shakes the car pretty good, Its not bad, I like it, also at 60mph I can punch the throttle and It get no tractionwith 315/35/17 nittos on the back , pretty fun and plenty of power up top, I will be posting dyno numbers and a graph if I can get one from them SAturday night, my tune is 1pm tommarrow.

Cheers for the reply.

And yeah calling them is probably a good idea, but being on the other side of the Atlantic means time zones are a b*tch not to mention the cost of an internation phone call.

BTW Third-GEN92 do you know are there 2 different "Trak" cams because I've seen different stats posted for it.

You have 232/235 644/598 112LSA listed in your sig, but TR's web site says 231/234 .640/.590 112 LSA

Same cam. It depends on who you listen to. Thunder advertises it as the 231/234, probably because it would seem more tame, and not as big a cam, therefore appearing to make even more awesome power for its size, where as Third-GEN92 and Patrick G call it a 233/235.

Ooops, sorry didn't see your from England.

I doubt they advertise it as a smaller cam than it actually is. No cam is ground to exact spec, for example my TR230 cam was advertised at 230/224 .575-.563, but it was cam doctored (all TR cams are cam doctored BTW) at 230.8/224.7 .578/.564. So I could call it a 231/225 cam if I wanted to. My Trex was the same, it to was a little bigger than advertised, but I bet most cams are.

Can someone post a video of the Trak cam at idle? I would like hear how close to the 224 cam it is.
