Default Lossing battery charge @ WOT??

Were running into this problem with my buddies car. Car ran great until a few weeks ago when all of a sudden it starts loosing charge at about 4000 RPM and above!! We figured it was a bad alternator so we replaced that and no dice. Then we moved on and replaced the battery and it still does the same thing. We checked the ground wires and everything seems to be just fine!! Any help would be greatly appreciated and also has anyone ever had this problem before??

Haven't seen it before but I guess the next thing to ask is "is the charge gauge reading correctly?". Could be some wire that is stressed at that rpm level............ as in physical engine movement........ .02

Make sure the alternator output is good. Then go to a mechanical tensioner

We also though mayeb the gauge was bad but the lights and everything else dims when the charge goes down so that seems like its not just the gauge.

Also by alternator output you mean the voltage? Cause if so ya its fine. Also what does the mechanical tensioner do??

We found the problem last night. Seems that whoever changed alternators before we did pulled on the plug behind the alternator a little too much and the little metal resistor/clip wasnt making enough contact with the alternator once plugged in. We replaced it and everything is running & charging smoothly...............
