5.3l Heads
5.3l Heads My friend told me that I can get some more power if I swap out my 5.7 heads for some 5.3 heads. Is it because I raise the compression or is their another reason? And if I do get more horses by how much? Any help would be great, Thanks.

I am researching that now. I know it will raise compression and most after market 5.3 heads come with larger valves. I want to know if stock 5.3 heads; which have a smaller intake vavle will see any hp gains just because of compression, or will the smaller valve not make it worth it?

swapping to PORTED 5.3 heads will benefit. Stock 5.3 are too restrictive and flow less than a stock 5.7L.
The chamber size is a +. Most ported 5.3's end up at 64 cc so you can stuff a big cam if you keep the 2.00/1.55 valves, while benefiting from added compression and extra flow.

Deoending on where you get your 5.3 heads from, they can CNC the combustoin chamber to the CC you want. They start at 59cc i believe, and like predator said they are more restrictive. Get a set of decent ported 5.3s with a smaller combustion chamber and you can see some decent gains.
