Default Whats a "mild" cam feel like?

Looking at buyin a heavily modded 00 SS and it says it has a mild cam and when i asked him what it was he said it cam in the car to begin with and he only knew it was mild, must have a tune as well cause he says its never acted strange (weird idle, sudden power drops). Dont ask me the et buy he pulled 116mph 1/4 and outside of heads and pistons and rods, the thing has almost EVERY mod you could imagine, ls6 manifold as well. i couldnt imagine anything "mild" about a cammed ls1 but i suppose there if a diffrence. "Mild" cam guys, whats it like compared to an aggressive one?

A mild cam is usually a little bigger than the stock cam. Most of the "Mild" cams have just a bit of lope to them and will give you a bit more power than the stocker. My car, unfortunately, has a mild cam in it with it's TR224. Still makes more power than stock but idles and rides real close to stock. Most guys that have mild cams usually want good DD's, want to pass emissions, want a sleeper or just don't like a big lope. They want something more tame that can be driven without any surging or jumping, which can be fixed with a nice tune but that's a different topic. I like aggressive cams but everyone has their own tastes. Hope this helps

When you get on it, its noticeable tho right? figure a cam would be regaurdless of aggressive or non.

Yea, it's sounds more aggressive at WOT. It's more of a sleeper cam, quite at idle but really livens up at WOT. When you get the rpm's up it sounds meaner than a stocker.

Compared to a big cam the 224 is quiet, but it definately doesn't sound stock to me. I've heard lots of 224's even on a 114 and they definately lope. If you want a sleeper cam with a stock sounding idle, then you'd probably like the cheater or GT2-3 cam.

Every cam I own will always be considered a "baby" cam in your eye's lol! The 216/220 used to be considered a medium cam.

I live in ridgewood New Jersey , im telling you its a GOLD mine out here for suckers. They find the styling of a 3 or 5 series BMW more aggressive looking then any cobra,ws6 or camaro ss. one of them even considers the WS6 wing (ls1 car WS6) wings "To ricey and gay".

I saw them staring at a 25k bmw 3 series -not even a m3- drooling over it and i said "you know for the same price you could land yourself an 03-04 cobra with IRS for your handling happy asses and own ANY bmw on the street right? then you could mod it at HALF the cost of mods for a BMW and get TWICE the bang for the buck beacuse its FI and mods are like crack to it". Thats were the "but this car looks so much more aggressive" came in and i was like "what ever"

A LONG time ago how ever when i was a sophmore in high school this really really nice and RICH kid got a 02 ss, when it was NEW. He did so much work to it he hit 650RWHP (dyno sheets, NO idea what he did tho) and embaressed ANY car clubs (ricers...they dont come around since then) that would show up on the mainstrip of my town. One time some guy was talkin so much trash about his honda being able to beat domestics i called him (my freind) right up and said "hey you wanna make some money lol?" whooped the kids *** with 4 of his freinds in his SS, just to show off lol.

id be affraid to buy a car that was heavly modified, but the guy does not know what's in it.

I have all the bolt ons and a mild cam TR224, and soon to be AFR heads. I would not call that radical or heavily modified. if I had a cam in the 230s and heads milled .030 with 11.5 +compression, new TB, fast intake, pushing 450 RWHP, Id start saying heavily modified.
