Default good combo for over 400 maybe

PRC LS6 CNC Ported Heads or patriot ls6 cnc heads
pacesetters headers/y-pipe
z06 or gt2-3 or cheatr cam
ls6 intake
underdrive pulley
think they will get me past the 400/400 hp/torque

Cheatr will definately get you that with the heads and long tubes. Well actually it depends on what your car dynos at stock. I've noticed that not all cars are created equal, so get a baseline and go from there.

The cheater should pretty much do it without the longtubes. The longtubes will/should put you over 400rwhp.

Well it depends.

I can't see the Z06 being the best bet for a cam swap, not there's anything wrong with it, but it's tame compared to many aftermarket ones.

Also if you're going with new heads then maybe look at the TR Trak cam. You will need a good tune to make it work correctly, but that rule should apply regardless.

As for how much rwhp, REALLY who cares. Track times mean so much more.

There are too many factors when using a rolling road dyno that can affect the reading.

Also depending on what type of dyno you use. If you go with the above setup and put it on a Mustang dyno then no you may not make 400+rwhp, but slap the same setup onto a Dynojet and you probably will.

This has nothing to do with your car, it's just different dyno's work differently.

A Mustang dyno generally gives a more "realistic" number when comparing it to manufacturer claimed HP levels. For a rough guide divide any dynojet number by 1.07 to give you a more realistic number. Then of course there is SAE and STD correction facotrs and graph smoothing these can all add rwhp to the number but it's total BS when it comes down to it.

Example:

Dyno jet: car made 425 STD, correctled to SAE = ~419rwhp

419 / 1.07 = 391rwhp comparison for a Mustang dyno.

So I'd rather have a motor making 395rwhp SAE on a Mustang dyno than 420rwhp on a Dynojet.

Smaller number but bigger power

Just something to watch for when you set HP numbers as a target.

I went with the Patriots because I thought they'd work better with my smallish custom cam. The Patriots have smaller runner volume vs. the PRC's. As a side note, I'm blown away by the customer service that Gunnar provides!

I haven't done much research on heads as of yet. But so far I quite like a look of the AFR heads, probably the 205's unless I was planning on a built motor for FI then the 225's would make more sense.

Check out this thread, I think you may find it interesting: https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-internal-engine/317323-interesting-flow-data-long-thread.html

These may be of interest also:

Personally I'd still go with the AFR's. Patrick G (a mod) has the 225's and a TR Trak cam I think, he makes 472rwhp with his mods I think that's proof they work and work well.

My understanding is that the Cheatr cam is designed to work well with stock exhaust. Thunder Racing has some other cams that would be better suited for a car with LT's and aftermarket heads. Give them a call, and pick their brain.
