can't figure it out!!
I've been looking over this sight for a while now and you guys are very helpful to me when i have a problem. Anyway i have a 02 ss and i've put h/c on it with an underdrive pulley. The f""ing car starts to over heat one day. I thought thermostat. changed it. It did it again. i did the research and thought head gasket because periodicly it would smoke white. Sooo i changed the head gaskets and went to arp bolts. Finally got the car back together, drove it for two days no problems then bam it over heats again. I need some serious help. Could this be a coolant temp sensor or water pump. Thank you for your respones.!!

It could be the waterpump. When my pump went,it just went.No leaking or nothing.I guess the bearing took a crap and wouldnt spin the impellar or something. They dont always have to weep out of the weep hole to be bad.

need more info.
are your fans coming on?
what temp are they programmed to come on?
is your air dam still in place?
does it over heat driving around?
does it overheat just sitting there?
does your second fan come on when you turn on the A/C?
is this a M6 or A4?
If A4 are you running a bigger tranny cooler?
Are you still using the stock tranny cooler?
is there crap (leaves, plastic bags) blocking the radiator?
have you done a pressure test to make sure you don't have a leak?
does it ever get low on coolant?
are your overflow and coolant bypass lines pluged in correctly?

It si a m6. When it over heated the first time the gauge was pegged so we cut it off and tried to fill it with water. The temp guage was at 240 and we noticed the fans were not on. But today when i started it up the fans can on at 180 something. So the fans are working but i'm not sure if they'er woking all the time. Today it was fine on startup and i drove for 10 miles or so and then it did it but i turned the heat on full blast and it cooled down. air dam still in place. coolant lines are plugged in the same way they came off. It use to use coolant before we changed the head gaskets but i've only had the car back running for two days. we did a block test from the raditor and it was getting hydrocarbons in the coolant. no crap in front of the raditor. Can you clean out the system with a flush or something? if the water pump was bad would it not over heat instantly.? thanks

the problem with the fans is that they work sometimes. I've heard them come on and go off. But when i drive the car it over heats. I haven't tried the a/c yet.
