Default Good cylinder heads to go with LS6 cam?

What would be a good set of heads to match up with an LS6 cam? Nothing outrageously expensive but something that will flow better than stock for a good price.....

What kind of gains would LS6 heads get you over stock LS1 heads?

current mods are 3.73s, lid, nitrous and suspension mods. I already have the cam and am going to be installing it soon once I get the valvetrain parts I need and longtubes are coming in March.
Basically I want to go with a relatively mild setup and in the future I will probably do a forged bottom end and a blower or just stick with the nitrous. Not sure yet....

For the price, it's hard to beat TSP/PRC's CNC LS6 heads for $899.99.

Yes they come assembled. They flow VERY well. Read this thread. https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamometer-results-comparisons/442144-prc-street-849-heads-dyno-results.html

Argh, you don't buy heads to match a cam. That's completely backwards! You buy a cam to match heads (and to match your goals, driving habits, other mods, etc).

why a ls6 cam? all it is is a stock gm cam,for all the work you will only gain 12-15hp. there are alot of better cams out that will produce 50% or 100% more power and drive and idle just as good as a stock cam. a 224 cam on a 114 lob will make more power and drive like stock. i have a 236/240 600/609 112 and that cam has no idle or driving problems around town at all. i did what you did and went with the small sissy cam in the past,well....i'm going on my 5th cam swap this spring. why are you adding a cam,for more power/performance right? all that work for a stock cam. think about it.
goodluck bro.

ok first of all.....i am on a budget and just trying to build a fun car. I am in college and dont have a TON of money to spend on my car right now. My friend bought me the cam as a gift for christmas...its better than stock and thats good enough for me for now. You are going on your fifth cam swap? I am sure you have spent a lot more money on your car than I have. I am doing this cam, bolt ons, nitrous and heads asap. I also have a 100 shot and am currently finishing my suspension....

the cam was a gift for christmas so i have to make do with getting a set of heads that will work with the cam...like stated I dont have an unlimited budget. When I graduate and start making real money I will probably do something crazy with the TA. For now, this will work...

Get the those PRC heads, spend a little extra to get them milled to 11:1 compression(~$75) as long as you're set on using the LS6 cam. The spray will love the extra compression and you should up at least another 10-12rwhp on motor from it too.

In that case, I would say just pick up a set of LS6 heads on the cheap. Stockers go for ~$600 for a complete set (with all the needed springs and such) and are designed to work with that cam from the factory.

Anything more than that will just be throwing your money into a sidetrack where you'll have to sell it all anyway to build what you really want. The biggest newbie mod mistake is just buying parts and slapping them together without any idea of what you ultimately want to end up with.

Really, even better than that would be to sell that cam, pocket the money, and save for the day when you can do the mods you REALLY want to do. Even if you did just get the $600 heads, you'll end up having to pay for tuning, which is another $500 or so and who knows what other expenses.

Trust me, spending money twice really sucks.

GMHTP magazine did an article where they picked up 37 rwhp from just a set of AFR 205 heads on a 97 Vette.

everyone knocks the ls6 cam, truth is that when it is tuned right, it can make just as close to, or sometime match a 224/224 cam or so. Great cam for the cost.

Oh, and you'll need head bolts too so that's another couple hundred... plus labor, gaskets, and who knows what else...
