A better question than what's a safe rev limit is why do you want to spin the motor much higher? Adding a blower doesn't mean you have to rev to the moon. If it's a stock cam I'd keep it around 6100 or so.

I would feel more confident spinning higher with a lighter valvetrain too. I would feel more confident with 918's@6700 than dual springs at 6500.

ahh i see your point now, so would the best path to go down to be a dynotune to see where the car still makes power and if it is still making power at redline, bump it up a bit, but if it isnt, then its ok? the cam i will be running will be comparable to the ZO6 cam

All my mods are focused at the stock rev limiter for the Vette, 6,200 RPM. I don't want to go higher than that either.

comp cams custom grind. on the dyno it peaked around 6,800 or 6,900 so i shift at 7,000 to keep it in the powerband in the next gear. i'm running dual springs also.

My 2002 z28 M6 had a 6200 rev limit. Maybe the auto's were lower?

Also, I want to add that the rod bolts were updated for the 2001 and 2002 cars for use in LS6 motors which came with a stock 6500 rev limit. I feel pretty safe spinning mine up to 6600 (6800 revlimit).

The stock limiter is set at 6250 to my knowledge, it is AT LEAST 6200, I know this for a fact.

I had my previous cars limiter set at 6800 and shifting at 6500 (A4). On this car I was planning to set it at 6800 and set my shift lite at 6600.

The Stock rev limit is 6200...doesent matter if its an auto or manual. I'm not sure why that guy said 5800?? My stock auto shifts at like 58-59 according to the tach. Thunder racing told me when i install my TR224 112 cam with Ti retainers and 918's to set my rev limiter between 66-6800, and have my shift points at 65-6600. I dont know why the would tell me this if they did not think the bottom end could hold it.
