I figured to do it right you had to completely disassemble the entire engine and flycut the pistons on an end mill.

Hmmmm.....did someone use a dremel tool???
No. In short, they use a mock up head and a tool that goes through the valve guides....

Yeah, like cantdrv65 said, you use a junk head with teh valve seats removed. Isky sells a cutter for about 200-300 bucks. I however made one for less than $20. Mine uses adhesive sandpaper discs instead of a metal cutting head, but the idea is the same. Hopefully it gives you an idea on how it works.

I TRIED to do it by simply busting my timing chain at 6000+ RPMs... It just bent all the valves though.

Valves are easier to replace than broken pistons. All things considered, youre lucky if thats all you had to replace!

[QUOTE=98camaroLS1M6]Talked to buddy of mine and he said it is most likely a thrust bearing and not to worry about it until something serious happens. Engine will not have to be rebuilt but crank refurbished. Should i get this fixed soon or wait? Personally, I would feel safer getting this done soon.[/QUOTE

Roughly how much do you think it would cost to have this fixed professionally?

About $1000 if you drop of your shortblock and tell them to rebulid it with ARP rod bolts. or $200-$400 for them to change cam bearings, clean block and hone the cylinders. the rest you could just assemble yourself.

It really bent a few valves BAD, but none broke off therefore all I had was some small valve reliefs and an excuse to go with my new TSP LS6 heads.
