Default i hope this isnt the dumbest question in the world

are combustion chambers factored into the displacement of an engine?

i was just wondering because 1ci = 16.39cc right,

64cc combustion chamber X 8cylinders / 16.39 = 31.25ci!

or do i suck at math and need to put my calculator away and go to bed?

No, combustion chamber size is not a part of displacement. Displacement only has to do with the amount of volume the pistons move through (area x distance). One way to think of it is if you fill the cylinder with water at bottom dead center, and move the piston up to top dead center, the amount of water that pours out is the displacement of that cylinder.

mack is correct, but why, are you suprised that the combustion chambers "add" so much volume?

Doesn't:

displacement/chamber area=compression ratio?

Right. Includes Addition/Subtraction of Gaskest Diameter, copressed Hight and Piston Dome/Rlief (Stayin/Stayout)
