After driving the car around for about 30 minutes and the driveability appears to be excellent. The car did not surge even once. You can definitely tell a difference in the exhaust note. There seems to be less lope than before. The car still sounds cammed though. Like anything else with cars you have to give up one thing (quiet lifters) to get something else (driveability). On a side note I do run 5w-30 Mobil 1 in the car so that could be part of it. I have heard that a heavier weight oil will quiet them down some. I may give some 10W oil a try in a few weeks and see what that does. The ticking is nothing that I can't live with so I can say that I am pretty happy with the lifters.
Even my old SBC327 running loads lifters had the infamous rhoads sewing machine sound it sounded like a stock Ls1. They will be loader but they defintely worked I was running a 292 comp grind on an old monza. They worked great. Im glad they came out with a lifter for the Ls1/6 application.

wow, these lifters rock!!! i love em, and will tell anybody that ask me to check out Rhoads lifters!

Yes like hugger said, i was also having surgin and stallign problems at idle, that is all gone now, car fires right up, holds idle! soo far no problems

ant the other thing, yes u will have to deal with teh sewing machine sound, but i can def do that b/c the driveability is 485348975 times better now!

Wow, I forgot all about these guys. I used them in my 350 back in the mid to late 80's. Just ordered a set for my 590 lift cam.

I believe Hot Rod tested a set of these 5-6 months ago. the dyno showed little to no gain down low from what I remember.

Hot Rod may not have seen a gain, but the people who have installed them seem to notice a difference.

Are these lifters stable enough to run up to say 7K RPMs?

I wont be running up too 7000 i would have to get new rod bolts. The cam i am running will go to 6100 and that should suffice. What was hotrod testing them on like what setup. Call Rhoads unless hugger runs his setup that high. I will keep you guys posted with my results..

On the small cams you will get more torque big cams more low end drivability...so you get a 224/224 .591 lift for example...your low end should be much improved because the lifters take 10 deg below 3000 and few thousand of lift, so if your in traffic or stop light to stoplight your full duration isnt present on idle, you'd be at like 214/214 with lift at .581..

Tiger thats the old number summit has. give rhoads a call and they'll tell you what you need

Summitt
