Default Lunati 382 Stroker Kit

I recently spun a rod bearing so I need an engine rebuild. However instead of rebuilding it stock, I was thinking of getting a stroker kit for it. I found this one, does anyone know if it's worth getting or had any experience with it?

I called them a while ago with questions about doing a lq9 swap into a 95 v6 and they were really helpful and answered all of the questions I had, which were quite a few.

That's a bullet proof rotating assembly....top shelf stuff. Both their cranks and rods are works of automotive art.

Good luck,
Tony

how much power is the stock block good for, assuming u went with the 382 stroker? I've pondered the same rotating assembly only i'm also interested in a supercharger on top of that any thoughts?

Way more than 383 with a super on top of it could produce.

Depending on your mods, that's alot of $$ for a top shelf kit. I'd say they have the best kit, but for most applications, it's plain overkill. The Eagle stroker kit will surfice what most can throw at it and costs half of the Lunati. Don't get me wrong, I use and love Lunati, but overkill can get expensive.

You might want to talk to the shop that will be building your motor. I bought a Lunati kit but my engine builder wanted to put together his own kit for my application. I think he said that Lunati did good balancing but took off so much metal to caused him to not be able to properly balance the whole assembly the way he wanted to. I am not saying Lunati is bad I am just saying that you should talk to your shop and see what they like to work with.

Lunati is the sheezy.

But Honestly you can buy a crank form Eagle. Get some H-beam rods and you'd save a large bit. Eagle is imported but the quality is very high.

the lunati cranks and pro mod rods are very strong,if money is no object that is what i would run but the eagle cranks and h beams are excellent for the money, lots of high horsepower cars has eagle assemblies.

For the price of the Lunati rotating pieces, you could get an entire forged shortblock, and get 402 ci ta boot!

370 iron block from MTI = 3299.00
383 short block from TR = 3995.00
402 short block from TSP = 3929.00

It'd probably be easier and cheaper to put the whole short block in too

Lunati is one of the best, but are pricey. That stroker kit is just the kit, you still need all that installed in your motor and balanced etc... It's going to cost you a lot more than the parts. I would just trash your bottom end and buy a 402 from SDPC and have the bottom end r&r'd. It will end up costing you a lot less than what you are looking at.
