Default problems with oil pressure

about 7 months ago i changed the intake on my 98 z and when i did i cracked the oil pressure sending unit. before i put the new manifold on i bought a new sending unit from chevy and installed it. when i started the car the oil pressure was around 20 at idle but before i change the manifold it was at 40 at idle. now i'm changeing the manifold again to a ls6 and am wondering if i should replace the unit or look into other things. do you guys think i just got a bad unit last time or did i f*ck something up last time?

you should hook up a mechanical gauge before assuming you have a problem with pressure. i have wide clearances, a cooler and
a remote filter with a ported pump. i thought i had bad pres. but hooked up a gauge and found the stock one inacurate with all i got going on i have 50psi cold and 30psi hot. i also run a large oil filter. with 10k of hard driving i`m still going.
