Default Can you tell the difference between 5.3 & 4.8?

Are these motors marked on the back of the block like the 6.0's?

You wouldn't be able to tell by the block alone since the blocks on the 4.8 and 5.3 are the same bore(96mm) and have the same part number. The shorter crank stroke makes the 4.8.

If you can look into the spark plug hole with a light at the top of the piston, the 5.3 has a dish and the 4.8 is flatop.
