Default Cam Install Pics!

Well i finally got time to put my cam in. Here are some pics i took.

The cam is a comp XER 224/224 Duration .581/.581 Lift 114LSA, with Comp 918 springs, and manley 7.400 Pushrods.

All in all it took me about 20hrs to install the cam but some of it was spent trying to get a valve that we droped back out. And the rest was spent trying to figure out how to fit my hands back to 4,5,6,7,8 cyl's.

But its all done now the car runs great now it's time to see how it will do at the track.

Nice pics, so what method did you use to hold up your lifters? You say you droped a valve, how far did it drop? Looks like you lucked out.

i used air to hold up the valves but when compressing the spring to put it back on the valve the spring compressor hit the valve and it broke the seal.. got lucky tho.

it runs great with the stock manifold. i am sure it would be a lot better with headers but i got the cam as a hand me down so i paid about 200$ for everything needed to install it.

no tune yet and no codes on the motor.

An all too familiar sight. Congrats! It'll feel like a different motor now.

That sucks having that ABS proportioning valve right there in the way. GM could have put it over on the wheel well to make the engine a littly easier to work on. What are those two hoses or tube going into the drivers side of the intake with the foil tape on them? It doesn't look like EGR or Nos. If you put the piston at TDC you can drop as many valves as you want with no problem and it doesn't matter which stroke your on. It's easy to place the piston at TDC with the plugs removed. You can put your old crank bolt back in and turn the crank with a wrench.

yea i know that know and did it for the rest of the cyl... and happened to have gotten lucky with the one i droped the valve on... it was not quite at tdc but close and than just brought the valve back up by turning the crank.
