TSP Magic Stick 3: Daily driver?
Hello, I have a 98 Z28 A4 with 80,xxx miles. I am going to be installing an LS6 intake, lid, and LT headers with an ORY and an open cutout. I want to run an aggressive cam (400-430rwhp). How streetable is the TSP Magic Stick 3 cam? I want to know about the drivability, highway noise, stop and go, etc. What results did you all see with the MS3? Are you pleased with it? In addition to the cam itself, what other parts would I need to complete the install? Thanks a lot.
First, you're not going to see 400-430 cam only in an auto. You're looking at around 360 with an aggressive cam.
Second, you'll need a stall converter first, otherwise drivability will be non existant. Look at something like a 3500-3800 stall first...you'll be amazed at the difference. You may even get more performance from a stall over a cam...low 12s shouuld be no problem with a good stall and bolt ons.
When you get around to getting the MS3, expect less than 400 rwhp. It will pull like crazy, but it wont be a dyno queen...autos dont dyno like manuals, but they tend to perfrom much better at the track. You will need a tune for sure and valvesprings that will handle atleast .625" lift...PRC or Comps will do. Look into a double roller timing chain, pushrods, and maybe an LS6 stock replacement oil pump sionce you have a 98.
You'll have around $800 into parts alone to swap the cam. For that, get a good stall first.

There have been about 6 threads started this week about the MS3. I have posted in probably 5 of them. I would check out those threads because 3 of them have dealt with the same questions you are asking. With the MS3 and full bolt ons, you should see in between 390 and 400 hp. M6's will get just over 400, around 405 prolly. But again check out those other threads there is real good info in them.

I'm expecting over 390 when I switch to an MS3 or T-rex, maybe even 400.
I just bought that cam the TSP MS3 the car it came out of made 421 with bolt ons but it was a 02 m6 car. Its a good cam, so what I have been told we will find out when I get some more coin for a tune.
