Default 231/237 tsp cam

dose anyone have this cam, if so what length pushrods are you using. Im using stock length right now but have noisy valvetrain. I have been told they may be to short but just trying to find out for sure before i go buying more stuff. When valve is closed the rockers have a little play in them. If not the push rods maybe rockers are just worn out. lifters are new and all seem fine.

You are sure you torqued them to 22lb/ft? I had that cam with 7.400" pushrods and it was quite as a mouse. Now my 224 is loud. I'm thinking of getting some 7.425" pushrods.

No, my car is a automatic with stall and gears and it is a torque monster. Its hard not to break the tires loose. the car pulls very well in bottom end and top end. So far i love the cam, just want to get rid of noise so i can enjoy it.

I'm running Comp Cam 231/237, and mine r noisy as well. I posted here few days ago.I just ordered 7.425 p-rods. I was wondering if lifters can cause this. I replaced mine w/ Comp Cam 850-16. I did notice that I can push/pull on rocker arms about 1/8 inch. yes that is at preload and r-arms tq'd. what lifters are u running? and guys that r on stock p-rod length, what lifters r ya'll using? hope we find the answer cause I'm stoked!!!!

I was using stock rockers and lifters with the 231/237. I changed the cam to my 224 and it got noisy so I put in new lifters from comp and the noise didn't go away. I have 108k miles on my rockers and I have only had this cam for about 2000 miles maybe. The other cam was in there for like 10k miles or more. Stayed quiet.

If the rockers are quiet when you pull them out for a cam swap, there's no reason why they need to be replaced. I'm at 95k and planning on a cam swap by ~105k, and I will be reusing the rockers. Everything else will be replaced though including thinner head gaskets for a little extra compression.

i had 106k on my rockers, everything els is brand new. The lifters im using i got off ebay from gaterman products. They were a good deal, and i think they are just stock replacement lifters. Car was runnig ok, just was noisy. Now car runs like ****, i dont know what happened. I was stoped at traffic light and all of a sudden car started to die and would barely move.

are you sure your valves are not hitting the piston.. that happened to one of my buddies.. he thought it was his rockers as well and suddenly like your car it just had no power and wanted to die.. so we did a quick compression test and there was no compression in cylinder 1 and 5.. valves punched a whole through the pistons and messed everything up.. might want to check that out... found out the springs cracked and the valves were just there..

I was considering this cam for a while, but that makes me scared! Wait, I must live off of Bonecrusher's practice of life...Be "Never Scared"...

Meh, my car only has a little under 13K on the clock right now, I should be dandy.
