Default Timing Chain options

Anyone care to toss in their opinions? Don't need an adjustable. Just obviously something reliable for when I drop in this cam. Also, would you recommend me doing the oil pump at this time? Or will these puppies run for awhile? I'm nearing 70k on the odo....

Just get an LS2 chain... If I had it to do again, that's what I'd do. The double roller isn't worth the trouble. Just my .02

save some dough

Do the oil pump just as piece of mind by going with the ls6 pump, preferably ported (or port your self). Also go for the ls2 chain on stock sprockets. its pretty cheap and quite strong.

Do I buy the LS2 chain only and use the gears from the LS1...or buy one of the complete LS2 timing chain kits? Should I replace the gears? Worn gears + new chain doesn't sound like the chain would mesh properly. Also, does it work with the ASP crank pulley? I was looking at some of the chain kits and they said it had to be shimmed...I don't want to screw with that.

How many miles do you have on your stock set of timing gears?

I think that you wont have to worry about that unless you go with a double roller.

I have around 144,000 on mine and reusing the stock gears. one of the things that might happen is some gear wine. But look closely for alot of wear. mine is still good
