Default 7.450" PR installed with F13

Well I just installed them and damn did the valve train noise get a lot quieter. I am running around 0.080" inch preload, maybe slightly less as it was hard to adjust out the adjustable one. Either way that is the highest preload I will see.

I spoke with Allan Futral and he said 1-1.5 turns past zero lash, IIRC. I ended up going 1.25 turns so I am right where he said as well (I actually spoke with Tony Mamo about this but just wanted to show that it is also in range with Futrals recommendations). The 7.400 that shipped with it made the valve train very noisy, to the point that I could hear it around 1500 rpm, low throttle (so the exhaust is quiet haha). I have AFR heads and MLS gaskets. The heads are untouched as well at 66cc.

I just wanted to post this up and maybe help some people out. Reguardless what is recommended for your setup, always double check and order the correct pushrods. There are a lot of guys running the F13 and with various setups as well. The "sewing machine" noise is not normal by any means, which most think is on this board. Get the proper push rods and you wont have to listen to that racket.

Good post Mike. Glad your motor is sounding more normal now.

Good to hear this. I'm going through another cam swap and will look at carefully measuring preload this time and not taking the advice of salesmen and internet racers.
