Question Who makes Who's cams???

I have always wondered where do the LS1tech sponsors get their cams ground at.

The cam manufactures that I know of are:

- Comp Cams
- Crane Cams
- Isky
- Cam Motion

Also, who makes the stock cams for the GM LSx engines?

Who makes Who's cams???

Mahle makes the stock pistons...
I think that there might be some that in-house grind. But the blank billet pieces probably come from one of those 4.

Off the top of my head

Vinci uses crane
Futral Motorsports uses cam motion
Speed INC uses comp

I'd say most shops use comp cams. Those are the only ones I can think of, that are the big shops. There are other big shops such as thunder but I don't know what they use. Most likely comp.

I'm 99% positive Thunder also uses Cam Motion.
Most of the southern shops use Cam Motion, since they are located in Baton Rouge.

another intresting fact... all lobes ground by comp are given a part number.. so you COULD call comp or anyone that sells comp cams, and order some specific lobes/split that would look alot like someone elses cam that has a name......

At one point, I thought they were all using Crane blanks as Crane was the only one capable of the hardening process. Comp has since developed their own process. Not sure on the other companies, but I believe David Vizard discusses this in one of his books.

that must have been awhile ago, since comp has been making their own roller cams in SBCs and other motors since around the early 90s.. maybe sooner then that, but that would be before my time...

I know my MS3 is a Comp XE-R cam.
