Question Does 2002 ECM report CVN/CSV?

Does the 2002 GM (Corvette) PCM report CVN/CSV over the OBDII interface?

LSS I'm looking at a LS3 swap on a 2002 Corvette. CA Smog test includes a ECM-CVN check. Obviously, if I reprogram for the LS3 it will not have the same CVM/CSV.
I've heard the 2001 ECM's don't report (and thus are not a problem), but can't find any information on 2002. Can anyone confirm?

The irony here is I plan to stay emissions compliant, and the LS3 'should' run cleaner than the 180K mile LS6 in the car

I would check with a referee. He might be able to do something to sidestep any hassle.

I doubt the ref is going to openly tell me with the ECM reports CVN/CSV it it's a means to side step their testing protocols. Hoping someone here with data access could check

They will help you in any legal way. Have one look over your setup and stress that you want to make this legit. They will help you do that if there is any way to do it legally.

I called the BAR - asking if there is a database of legal CVN's. They said no; I said there has to be as we are being checked against it. They said they don't make it public because they don't want programmers to emulate it.
I may be filing a FOIA request shortly, if I do expect this to be posted on every forum I can find

I wonder how long it would take them to release the list through FOIA?

Anyway, the ECU was the same from 99-03. Referred to as the P01. So I would think it would operate the same throughout those years.

04 got the P59. It has more internal memory. Unsure if it reports what you ask or not?

Yes a CVN does show up. You can go on GM website and register for free and see what the stock CVN is supposed to be. https://www.acdelcotds.com/subscriptions

Some of the early cars, they don't have a record of the correct CVN because of the rolling changes. Just because it displays N/A doesn't mean it won't display one. It just means that GM doesn't have a record of the correct CVN. After around 2005 or 2006 they started keeping better records.

OK - so mine does 'exist'
I guess the next question is - which of these do I need to 'worry' about? Is it all of them or just one?

Calibration History for: Engine diagnostic
Part Number CVN Description
9358964 0000CDFF - Engine diagnostic calibration

If I just look at Operating System, there may not be a CVN log

Yes. But like the screenshot I posted above the CVN may display N/A on the web site meaning they didn't document it properly. So no way to tell if it's a factory CVN or if it's been modified.

Hmm - so there no real way to know with the DMV has the actual CVN or not, unless I fail and end up on a bad-list

They have list and they have sampled dozens of cars. The key is not to get flaged in the system.

I have seen vehicles go through the new system with the wrong calibration and pass. But if some one decides to take a closer look they could revoke the registration.
if the shop you got.to gets popped or has had a history of doing illegal stuff they may watch closer.

But let's not forget one thing here. It's all 1s and 0s and the data can be manipulated in various ways.

Shooting in the dark here- IF they check bitsums, could that not be "adjusted" back to the correct bitsum by making a calibration change somewhere off the normal operating scale somewhere? Do bitsums move up AND down with changes? Or just go up?

That I don't know. I assume a Check Sum Value can go up or down, but I'm not a programmer

The CVN changes based on what you modify.
If you know how, it can be done.
can also piggyback and ECU or use a 3rd party device

I've been looking around for a piggyback system, haven't found one that I've felt was very legit. Any recommendations?

Nope. All the ones I have seen are home made.

Probably better that way, I've never liked ECM signal-falsifiers on principle
gonna talk to the local tuner and see if he knows how to 'properly' program this

OK, my point above is that IF the CVN (aka bitsum?) needs to go up or down to be the original number (stealth mode), make changes in an RPM range normally not touched in normal operation. The change would strictly be to bump the number up or down as needed.
