Default 853 vs.241

when stock is there a difference? I have read stuff about casting methods but i dont know which has which. Ive got some 853 and i want to port them but would 241's do better when ported?

Like you said, the casting methods were different, but they're the same design and are equal once ported.

The 241's are die casted and the 853's are sand casted. The 241's off the shelf are slightly better but like JMM98 said once ported they are the same.

comparing stock heads is like comparing stock manifolds. there isn't enough difference to mess with it.

There are a few difference in port design as well as chamber design.
853's will flow a little less even ported. Just a little.

I have a set of 241s with aftermarket springs/retainers in the For Sale section.

Why is that? If the design is the same, with the only difference being a smoother and more consistent design on the 241's, why would there be a difference after porting? After an 806 and 241 head is ported, both of them should be equally smooth and consistent right? Any insight Predator?
