Default LS1 vs LS6 intake manifold question!

Ive been wondering this for AWHILE.

Whats the diffrence? Any diffrence in looks? I notice some have a circle in them and some have a diamond shape in them.

In my 99 C5 it has a diamond shape but in my friends 99 TA under the EGR it has a circle shape.

Need some info so I can figure out if this is a LS6 intake manifold on my car before I go buy another one lol

if you have a 99 c5 with the factory intake, it is not an ls6 intake.

i don't believe the ls6 engine was introduced until '01..

I think that the only real way to tell is to look at the underside of the intake. An LS-6 will we bowed outward and an LS-1 will be completely flat (could be the other way around).

One way to tell is by looking at the coolant piping near the bottom of the intake. If you can see a pipe going towards the back of the intake, you have an LS1. An LS6 intake needs to be used with piping that goes from one side to the other, but not towards the back.

It's the other way around. The LS6 has the flat bottom.

A 99 vette came with the LS1 intake. It just doesn't have EGR.

I found a picture of a LS6 and LS1 intake manifold beside eachother -

LS6 is on the left.

Hope this one helps out anyone with the same problem as me!

From an Ebay seller:

"In order to maximize your top-end or stroker engine package, the addition of the Z06 Intake Manifold will greatly improve air flow to the motor. 10HP gains on stock applications, 15-20 HP on modified engines. This is a new design Corvette Z06 LS6 intake manifold. It has larger runners to produce more horsepower !!! Bolt on some serious Horsepower with this Factory ZO6 Intake Manifold. Will directly bolt on any 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 Corvette. Why spend $665.28 dollars with Chevy when you can have this for the fraction of the price. * 15 to 20 HP Increase. * Bolts right up to C5 Corvettes. * Brand New GM PART # 88894339 "

The injectors for the LS6 are higher pressure also.

All 01+ f-bodies and corvettes came with a LS6 intake manifold, no matter if its a Z06 or not.

Oops. I knew that it was one way or the other. Thanks for clearing that up!
