Default drilling plastic lifter trays

When you drill the plastic lifter trays which way should the holes face? Will Handzels book says toward the "lower face" which I'm guessing toward the exhaust manifold side rather than toward the lifter valley. Which is correct.

You mean when installed, correct? I think the trays themselves can go in either way without drilling them.

Just curious, I have read this too but aren't you concerned with this on a street driven car?

Supposed to help with oil returns, LS1's tend to pump themselves dry when driven at high RPM's for extended periods

It would have to face down because of gravity. I didnt bother on my car. Im more interested in keeping that retainer structurally sound than I am with oil return after extended high RPM driving. Its reasonably safe to overfill by a quart when you plan on extended high rpm.

The holes go towards the ex side of the engine.
