Question "Stealth" Cam / Heads?

OK - I know I should be happy with the power I'm getting now with the minor mods so far BUT...I WANT MORE!!

I don't really want to try to win the "rumpty rump" idle award, but I would like more goose in the BlueFlyingGoat. So I have a few questions:

1. Has anyone tried or are currently running either the CheatR cam / heads setup from Thunder Racing or the SI007 cam from Speed Inc.? Or something else similar you've run or would recommend? If so, how do you like them and how much RWHP/RWTQ did they make for you?

2. If you're going with a "stealth" setup, is there really any advantage to changing the heads? I can definately see changing the valve springs and the pushrods just to get some additional RPM, but I'm not sure how much of a difference adding the heads to the mix will make.

3. OR...should I just stay put until I can do a forged motor? Or forced induction? Or bag the whole thing and go N20?

The polls are open...will check back tomorrow PM...

411 rwhp with CheaTR cam, AFR 205 heads, FAST intake and stock exhaust manifolds, stock cats and SLP Dual Dual catback. Very stealthy. Sounded stock, cleaned some clocks.

Is there an advantage keeping the stock exhaust with this particular setup though? Would you make more power with full exhaust? 400 whp seems very good for a ls1 with stock exhaust on it.

I'm thinking Patrick G wanted the stock manifold to pass the "let's see what's in there - really" inspection after taking someone's candy...

Even with exhaust it will sound relatively stock though, i was just wondering if the back pressure was necessary for some reason. If its making that much power with stock manifolds and exhaust, are we looking at 450hp at the tires with with full exhaust????

388 rwhp with the CheaTR, Patriot Heads, and the LS6 intake w EGR through stock manifolds and cats. In my area they are pulling people over for illegal mods so I chose to go "stealth". Im happy with my choice. Just wait until I hit it with the 150 wet shot...........

Edit: This is through a 12-bolt rear, so it probably cost me a few HP.

Yeah, and after you add the 150 shot you'll be glad you've got that rear - HP loss or not!

While we're waiting, got a link to the MTI cam specs?

I was over at Speed Inc. today and let them talk me out of the SI13 (224/224) and into the SI007 which will be installed begining of August.
So I'll pose the question again since it's been 4 months since the last
reply. Anyone using the SI007 ?
thanks

After not only seeing those # but more so the graphs I set my mind up as I wanted a smaller cam.

Long live the CheaTR!

I'm still amazed at how well you set up your combinations Patrick. You should save yourself some time and put together some cams that work well with XXX Headers and XXX intake with this stall or gear. That would save you some time for the "Which cam is best?" threads.

If retaining stock heads, then:

Search under ragtop and view the thread of "max overlap with stock manifolds" excellent cam selection there.

Or if use headers then Old Man Cam from TR.
