I had to replace one in my Formula last summer. Damn car was knocking like crazy. Rear one was bad - covered in oil!! Not a hard job with the instruction from ls1howto
When I installed the new one I put some teflon tape on the threads to keep the oil from seeping up the threads of the new one.

It's just a matter of taking off the intake and they're basically right there. Disconnect the injectors, hoses, and plugs and remove the fuel rails. You will need a special tool to disconnect the fuel rail from the fuel line. After that just unbolt the intake and take it and the TB off as 1 piece. To disconnect the knock sensors use some pliers, and use a 22mm or 7/8" bit to unbolt them. It's really about a 1 hr. job. The hardest part is getting back there to disconnect the brake booster and oil pressure sending unit before taking the manifold off.
