head castings 241/853 help!!!!!!!!

Default head castings 241/853 help!!!!!!!!

What is the diffrence in the 241/853 head casting can some one please help

Let's see here, 853 - 241 = ummm, looks like 612!

Seriously, I believe the 241s are later model heads, and they flow better than 853s, though I dunno how much better.

From what Ive been told there is little difference in flow and none when ported.

They same cast, just the 853 is sand cast, though , which makes the surface a little rougher, and if both heads are stock the 241s will flow better. If the heads are ported, then they perform the same.

The main difference is in the way it's cast. The 241 has the advantage till it's ported, then it doesn't matter. This has been covered numerous times, try searching first.

thanks just wondering because when my car was under warranty i broke a pushrod and the dealer ship said it had a cracked head and put a new one on it well Zmoneypit just did a head and cam on my car (runs like a beast now) and i noticed the casting numbers were different thanks everyone

The castings are different, and are found on different year cars.

couldn't be the 853 casting are premiter bolts and 241 are center bolt? or i'm mistaking?

no the 853's were center bolts also

My 806 heads are the perimeter bolt heads. These are the '98 heads.

the dealer will probably put 241's on. If you luck out they could put 243 LS6 heads

Yeah he didnt get that lucky, The thing is the left one side a 853 & the other a 241. So he had two different ones on the car. Stupid all "stealerships"
