Default 5.3 ls2 please help

sorry if this is a repost i did a search but am not entirely sure of the answer to my question. i have the option to buy an ls2 cam, springs, pushrods, and retainers out of an 05 gto. will these fit in my 5.3 03 serria? and if so what sort of power should i look for out of this mod? truck is stock except for k&n fipk. also is there some sort of cam sensor issue between the two engines? thanks in advance.

I am also building-up a 2001 5.3 vortec and I am constantly learning new things about these engines. What i have heard is that out is thatGen III 5.3 engines like ours have a cam sensor at the rear of the cam where the new ls2 cam has the cam sensor ring at the front of the cam so they won't interchange and run correctly.

Tech guys, if I am wrong please correct me!

Also, if you are going to go through the whole cam/spring/pushrod swap, research it a little more to try to find the right cam that will make you happy for what you are going to use your truck for to make all the swap worth it.

hey thanks for the reply. the reason i'm going this route is that i heard that this cam and the ls6 cam were the same.I want this cam cause i'm getting a stupid good deal on it and as long as i can get 30+ hp out of it, it will be worth the effort for me to do so even if i could get more out of an aftermarket cam

I think that even that if an ls2 cam could work, the rpm range would be too high for a truck to be practical power and low end torque would probably suffer too.

What kind of driving/racing do you want to do: daily driver, tow, etc?

I am experimenting with a LPE 222/222 with .566"/.566" on a 112 lsa. I hope for it to have a strong mid range with a lopey(er) sounding idle.

i'm just goin for a fast truck. i don't really tow with it or go off road. it is my daily driver but i just want to be able to set my hair on fire for not too much money. the truck is a ecsb 4x4 w/ just an intake. i will be getting hp tuners and will learn to tune with it. like i said its all about the speed and little about the towing (maybe a trailer here and there) and it will have a tb torque converter at some point along w/ ls1 or reg e-fans
