If you have to pass a true sniffer type test you had better stay around 45 degrees (or less) of overlap at .006 lift... Otherwise too much unburned fuel is going to be blown out the exhaust valve and fail the sniffer test. None of the bigger cams recommended here are going to pass emissions on a sniffer.

If you only have to do an ODBII emissions test (no sniffer) you can get away with more cam and just disable the error codes... You will be checked to see if cats are still in place...

Yes you can get the CompCam 224/224 on a 114 LSA... I installed one on a friends ZO6. I would recommend a +2 advance (ICL 112) if you are sticking with the factory heads. FYI this car did pass a sniffer type test...
