TR230 cam install finished
Problem we ran into was we forgot about the spring seat locators...YOU WILL NEED NEW ONES DONT FORGET...because the springs are a different size, so we ordered them from comp. and had to put off the finish a few days
Got everything back togather and took her to tune and dyno friday -
377.2 rwhp and 370 rwtq
We had already pretty much standard bolt on mods - slp long tubes and mas, 411 gear etc...
She is my daily driver and i think this was a good cam for that. The tune really smoothed out the start and idle and the new power feels good.
Guess the 12 bolt is next
hopefully we get a few good runs before we break the 10 bolt!!Would like to thank LS1 how to for the great write up for cam install!!!!! This is a wonderful write up to have when you swap cams.
we put the 1.7 rockers back on valve lift .577 intake .568 exhaust
yes we used the 918 springs and the stock spring seats were about 40 to 60 thousands too loose and according to the tech at comp cams it would let the springs float a bit at the bottom at high rpms. They suggested we use different ones. When comparing the stock spring to the new 918 spring you can see the larger diameter at the bottom of the spring not to mention the 918 is a bit taller. Im sure you can use the stock seats but comp puts out the ones that are made for the 918s because they fit perfectly to keep the springs from walking from side to side at high rpms.
This cam is suppose to add i think 30 to 60 hp to what you start with (i think thats what i read anyway) but we have found that you need to lean to the lower end of these numbers on most parts.
Hubby wanted this cam because of the power band it produces mid to high end.

Those #"s are kind of low. Does your car have an LS6 intake? Pully?
