Default LPE Cam/Head Install

Ok so I bit the bullet and bought Lingenfelter's cam/head combo. The cam is the LPE GT3-2 and the heads are LS1 CNC ported and polished. I am also installing a Max Flow Mass Air Sensor and a 1030 cfm throttle body. I think it should be good for around 80 horses. The motor is bone stock besides an SLP air lid.

A few questions:

For head bolts, should I spend the 100 bucks on ARP head bolts or will 40 bucks for GMPP be ok?

Head gaskets - I know there is much talk about the thickness of the gasket, but when it comes down to it, if it seals and lasts, I'm good.

I have a McCloud clutch/PP/FW from a C5 M6, will this bolt directly to my M6?

I can reuse the stock lifters, but come on, after all this work, I don't think so. Any advice on a good set of lifters and rocker arms?

One last question, LS2 timing chain, yea or nay? I have read that in order to use a double roller, some milling has to be performed for clearance issues.

Any feedback will suffice as this is my first chevy mod. I was a 5.slow man for years and had fun with it, but I saw the light and bought my 2001 SS.

Thanks guys

Stock bolts are fine
GM MLS gaskets
LS2 Chain super
Comp 850-16 for lifters
7.40 Comp cam push rods
And of course a tune (that is 1/2 the power of your swap)

You didn't mention anything about headers?

Chris,

Please post your results after you do your install and tune. I'm thinking about the same set up for my Vette.

seems like the SSS guys with Radix's like that cam for boost. i remember reading an article about that cam in a 5.3 and it produced some nice numbers. its a very stealth cam with a 118.5 lsa or it might just be 118.

You are correct, the LSA is 118.5. I'm psyched about this install. Buying all the misc. parts for the install now. Gotta love the misc. parts.

I was thinkiing the same exept use their LS6 CNC ported (aka GMPP heads). I was leaning more towards the GT-11 cam but could always go back to the GT2-3. LPE said with the GT-11 & GMPP heads with stock manifolds and the usual bolt ons i could hit 400 rwhp or pretty close and still remain pretty driveable.

I have the LPE GT2-3 cam, GMPP LS6 heads (milled.055") LPE LT headers, stock cat's,LS6 intake manifold ported TB and Blackwing. 403HP/381TQ. Other than some slight valvetrain noise you cannot tell the difference from stock at idle. It is pretty much the ultimate stealth package, if that's what your looking for.You could go with a bigger cam, still have good driveability and
more HP.

That's pretty much what I wanted to go for. How did the LPE LT's work out? Any clearance issues. I have a 2001 SS, with the eibach kit. May not be a question that you can answer.

Clearance is not an issue.('99 C5) I bought these some time ago. I don't think LPE even sells them anymore. There are better flowing headers now.

I guess I'll go with everyone else and get the Pacesetter LT, seem like they are the best bang for the buck. I have been reading that many people experience their Y-pipe banging, but I think I read that Mufflex offers bump stops for your Y-pipe. Can anyone verify this claim? Guess I need to do the research myself.

Wow thanks, i've looked all over for somebody with that package, Thanks for the input. I probably will not put headers on mostly because i want it to appear stock and i've never had good luck with headers (cracking, leaking, rusting, coming lose etc.). Who did your tune? Or is it tuned? Thanks

I'm running the GT2-3 with GMPP LS6 heads but with 65cc. Dynatech long tubes with cats into the stock catback, SLP pulley, Speed Inc CAI, and tune. I didn't put the ported TB on until after it was tuned but it should be ~400rwhp now.

Parking mine next to a stock GTO and you couldn't tell the difference at all

i agree, youll be regretting not going with a bigger cam. trust me. i started with a 220/220 cam and after 1 year, i had to upgrade to a 224/228. You want a cam you can feel.

My car is still smooth close to stock.
