Default Ticking Noise LS1

I've got a 2004 GTO and I had the heads and cam swapped out. The car also has Stainlessworks headers and a Bassani cat back. With the hood open everything sounds fine. But from under the car I have a ticking noise coming from what seems to be both sides. When its cold its louder, when its warm it quiets down a bit, but is still noticable, especially when I'm next to a building. The cam is the Vinci 056 cam and I used the 1.8 rockers. The car had 7000 miles before it was modded and now has 8400 miles. Any suggestions?

Matt

I will double check them again, but yes I believe they are tight. I used locking header bolts, not the stock ones.

Most LS1's will have a ticking/sewing machine sound after a H/C swap. I know mine did afterwards and it scared the **** outta me.. It's the nature of the aluminum block and the composite (plastic foir the ol timers) intake..

I agree, but it sounds like you have an exhaust leak somewhere. What is your oil pressure.

I have the 062 VHP /duel springs/titanium retainers/ pushrods all bought as package deal. Mine does the same thing. I have the supermaxx system but I think this is the sewing machine sound everyone talks about.

Sewing machine noise on top with the hood open, yes I have that. However the noise I'm talking about is coming from under the car. Its kinda ,loud when its cold, after it warms up the sound changes a little, it almost has a bit of a higher pitch, but its still a ticking noise. I'm taking it to get it checked out tomorrow.

Believe me, it's normal and is more pronounced with big cams.

With 8400 miles?
yep seen a motor fail after 100 miles. the machine shop installed the cam bearings wrong and didnt clean the oiling holes so it starved the cam of oil and caused the bearings to become toast and then had shavings in pick up screen causing it to lose oil psi. it sounded normal at first then it got worst and worst as miles were put on. 100 mile mark was it for that motor

so its possible, the bearings might of not liked the cam and spun the bearings some

Make sure ALL of you sparkplugs are torqued down. A loose plug is the definition of your problem. Good luck
