Default Cam idle

Since I dont know too much about cams. I`d like to know what specs mostly affect the idle quality.
Some of the camshaft when they idle they sounds like they are about to die out, or they barely idle, sometimes you dont hear any kind of idle for 1-2 secs and then it starts to idle again, very unconstant/mean idle.
Thanks!

The overlap of a cam determines it's idle quality. Do a search on "overlap".....You'll find lots of information
