Default cam install -- is new crank/cam gear needed??

Planning on a cam install in my 30,000 mile 99 ws6.

I was just wondering if new cam and crank sprockets/gears are necessary when doing the cam change? If so, which are the best ones to get?

personally if the gears arent worn[judging by the teeth like any type of sprockets] you should be fine. just toss on a LS2 timing chain and call it a day or you could go the route of buying a double roller TC which comes with sprockets and have fun with that. personally i went with the LS2 in my LQ9 and it had 42k on it

Yeah. There are plenty of people that are running the stock timing gears with the LS2 chain. Definitely a smarter cheaper route over the stock setup. Double roller is nice, but overkill IMO.
