Ok I have a couple questions about the MS3. Is there anyone that is running this cam with stock heads? if so is there anything that needs to be done besides springs and retainers? Also how did the cam drop your times? Its a pretty big cam so it should dramatically drop your times right? Also how was the drivability?

First off, you will tank your pushrods with that cam if you don't pick up a set of hardened ones. And you can kiss that 2800 bye-bye! You want somewhere in the range of 3600+ for that cam to not be a total ***-beating on the street.

Just cause you have a bigger cam doesnt always mean you will have better times. you will peak higher, that is for sure! But what you want it sounds like is something that is in the range of 228-236. I won't even ask you, because it looks apparent that this is a strip car/daily driver.

and last...
Tune. Tune. Tune. Tune. Tune.
That will ultimately determine what this cam will act like.

yeah i have an S cam with a 3800stall.....the s cam is 1degree bigger on the intake side. but the car ran good. 11.71 @ 115. could use somemore tuning. but just because its bigger doesnt make it better.....ive seen cars with less run just as good if not better

I was originally going to go big with an MS3 or TRex but I have seen some impressive numbers with a 228 cam on an Xer lobe that have caused me to change my mind.
For safety and peace of mind, when going with a cam that large I'd do the following:
Hardened pushrods, new OEM lifters (this will require pulling the heads so you'll need new head bolts and gaskets), LS6 oil pump, LS2 timing chain, and of course all the cam gaskets.
Are you planning on runnig double springs I assume?
